Here's a new corporate/business law blawg that looks promising. It’s LeapLaw’s Blawg, which deals with the practical reality of doing business with the 50 secretaries of state. Even in this age of rapid technology, corporate practitioners still have to make phone calls to paralegals or service companies asking “Can we fax file in [you name the state]?” “Can we get this merger document precleared?” etc. Their experts keep that information at a reader’s fingertips, and they keep it current, of course.
Dear Sir/Madam,
A specialized area of Bankruptcy practice requires us to identify the Shareholders/stockholders entitled to renumeration of compensation from a company's bankruptcy estate. How, and Where, I ask, may our staff acquire such stock ledgers of defunct companies, which in most cases we handle, are no longer active entities doing business.
Please advise, any help/expertise you may be able to offer as to acquiring such stock ledgers (required by state law to be kept by the corporation) would be most helpful. Thank You for your assistance to and in this matter.
